Congratulations Graduate!

I made this card for my niece, who just graduated from Westminster College with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Hip, hip hurray Becky!!

I also created a embellished, dimensional envelope at the last minute, like in the AM on the day of the graduation...so I did not have time to take a picture!

I just love this card...it's one of my favorites!

As I have said in the past, I can not take good pictures. You can't see the shimmer spritz on the flowers!!

Ingredients:
Bazzil glitter and textured cardstock
Fiskars border punch
Crop-A-Dile corner chomper
PaperStudio pearl gemstones
Michaels black pearls
Glitz & Glitter  border stickers
PaperStudio flowers
ImagineCrafts sheer frost shimmer spritz
Lace and ribbon from my stash

Happy Memorial Day!

Live Simply

I was enjoying a beautiful sunny, breezy spring afternoon.
Relaxing outside on my favorite chair.
And as I sat there, with the aftermath of Oklahoma still fresh in my mind also.

Looking at this decorative flag in my yard ...I started contemplating those two words on the flag
'Live Simply'.

What does 'Live Simply' mean to me?

I believe everyone interprets those words differently but here's how I see it:
It means limiting the 'wants' in life and recognizing the 'needs'. I realized I can survive without the 'wants', I am still waking up everyday, and okay without it.

Being 'unplugged'...not totally but maybe more so than the majority of the world. I don't feel the need to have the latest and greatest gadgets.

I also believe it means living in the moment and focusing on one thing at a time rather than trying to concentrate on multiple things at once.
I now know how to slow down, enjoy the color of the sky or the simplicity of the birds song and smell the roses.

I have learned the art of appreciation. Instead of seeing the glass half empty, I try to see the glass half full.

"Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, leave the rest to God" -- Ronald Reagan

Be Thankful and Enjoy the Simple Things!!

A Perfect Mother...Not!

With Mother's Day upon us tomorrow, I was reminiscing, looking at old photographs of my son and daughter when they were younger (so many pics still need to be created into layouts and put into albums!)
Here is a couple of pages I created in my earlier scrapbooking days...

CHRISTINA RENEE - my daughter

CARL WAYNE  II - my son

TO MY CHILDREN
As I look back on my years of motherhood, I have many regrets and many situations that I would like to do over.
I was not always sensitive and understanding. I sometimes had forgotten that you were children, just that...children.
I had been a screaming idiot, and I have handed out a silent treatment or two.
I have not always been the 'Best of Moms' or anyways near it.
But through it all, I did the best that I knew how to do at the time.
I've learned how to let go of the guilt that I've carried for messing things up sometimes and not becoming the 'Mom' that I had aspired to be.
It may have been a messy journey, but I know in my heart I did something right, somewhere, sometime.
LOVE YOU BOTH WITH ALL MY HEART!
MOM

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL!
