The Tap Dancer

Hello and Happy Mojo Monday!

While I was making this, the thought came to mind.... I have never done a layout of myself! You may ask yourself why?!
The answer is.....there are not very many pics of me to be had. I have always, absolutely, positively detested getting my picture taken!
Any of my family members will attest to it.
The profile picture for my blog and Google+ is about as good as it gets!!

I started with Bazzill card stock and sprayed it with Mister Huey's color mist in Sunshine and Inky Black.
Layered with Graphic 45 French Country-Montage and some of Authentique-Blissful  paper pack.
Used an EK Success punch on the corners then adhered tiny pieces of black glitter cardstock behind them.
The Prima flowers and a delicate see through leaf were attached to a chipboard ring adorned with black satin ribbon.
The chipboard ring circling my face (UGH!) is adorned with gold satin ribbon and the hatpin is made by Christina Griffiths at card-making-magic.com.
The title was cut from the Cricut Ashlyn's Alphabet.
To finish this layout I added some metal art pieces from K&Company.

This picture of me and fellow tap dancer's was in my mother's box of keepsakes.
She had it tucked nicely in my baby album.
You can tell by the look on my face, even way back then, I was not happy getting my picture taken!

I can remember my mother bragging about this picture.
If she was here today, she would of been so proud of this scrapbook layout!

If you feel like giving my blog some love, it would make my Mojo Monday even more mojo!!

Thinking of you

Hi!
I hope you are having a wonderful day!

Okay...there is a delicious, wonderfully pleasant aroma coming from my kitchen. It's distracting me from my work at hand. All I can think about is dinner!

My hubby is frying up some freshly picked green peppers. We absolutely love this time of year, fresh veggies from the garden, and just picked corn on the cob! I am in heaven right now!!

A quick post today as I don't want to miss dinner!

Found this card while organizing my scrapbooking magazines. Someone (not me!) happened to lay it on top of them and it was lost for awhile :-(
I made it earlier in the spring. I remember it was a drab and dreary day. The cheery, springy colors in the paper helped brighten the day and my mood! I am so loving this paper collection!

Why Christmas In July?

Have you ever truly wondered...why Christmas in July?

The earliest known occasion to make the phrase 'Christmas in July' literal was in July 1933 at Camp Keystone, a girl's summer camp in North Carolina, which celebrated with a Christmas tree, gifts, and a visit from Santa Claus!

In the southern hemisphere, winter falls in July. Therefore in countries such as Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, in order to have Christmas with a winter feel, Christmas in July events are held.
In the northern hemisphere, some people throw parties during July that mimic Christmas celebrations, bringing the atmosphere of Christmas but with warmer temperatures.

In some western countries, July has a limited number of marketing opportunities. In the United States and Canada, there are no national holidays between the first week of July and Labor Day, leaving two months with no holidays. Therefore, to justify sales, shops will sometimes announce a Christmas in July sale!

My mother always started her Christmas shopping in July but never really said why or if she did, I forgot (no surprise!)....now I know...she was a smart and savvy shopper!

So, on that note... I don't start my Christmas shopping in July but I have actually started making my Christmas cards and tags earlier this year since I now have more time to hang out in my little crafty space! Does that count??!!
