Dad's Birthday Card

Today is my Dad's 82nd birthday!

I tried to make a masculine card for him real quick...
nothing fancy, just hand wrote on the inside,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I used a piece of patterned paper from my stash for the mat. I inked the edge of the card with ColorBox brush pad in black.
The tag is an old Fiskars stencil that I have had since I started scrapbooking. I then inked around the tag and the flourish with my favorite color....ColorBox spanish olive! I used Stazon ink in jet black, but do not know the brand name of the stamp used for 'dad',  then topped it off with a matte black brad and used pop dots to add a little dimension.
The bakers twine is from WeRMemoryKeepers.
The faux stitching is made using a Zig pen.

Simply done for a loving and simple man!!
I wish to enter this card at Simon Says Stamps Anything Goes Challenge

~ Kiss The Cook ~

I  made this scrapbook page many moons ago, and the pictures are even older.
My husband is now grey !
I just had to buy my husband the 'Kiss The Cook' chef cap when I saw it, since he does most of the cooking in our house.
And I must say, he is a good cook!

Well, how ironic is it that http://fantabulouscricut.blogspot.com has a challenge called # 149 - Kiss the Cook

Here is my entry, it does not have a recipe but could not pass up this challenge!

The Craft Challenged Husband Tag Story

A couple of days ago I was on Youtube looking at video responses to crafty chica87's 'The Craft Challenged Husband/Boyfriend Tag' www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVADWvADIL0
Avid crafters were interviewing their spouses/boyfriend about crafting. The men gave some hilarious answers...too funny!

There was a list of 20 questions. Some examples...
How often do I craft?
How often do I craft shop?
Who is Tim Holtz?
What is an ATG gun?
Would you ever craft with me?
What do you think of my crafty mess?

Now, what is so coincidental,
is question #13...
Where is the strangest place you have found glitter?

It's not glitter...but an embellishment my husband found in the clothes dryer TODAY!!
He called me to the basement to show me, I started laughing immediately, thinking of question #13 !!

Hope you enjoyed my little story!

~ Six Fold Card ~

Hi All!

It's been a busy week for me...my husband had surgery and I have been playing nurse and caregiver!
But I did take some time for paper crafting.
I have been working on this card off and on for a couple of weeks.

The tutorial is from kmskipper's Youtube channel. This card measures 6in X 6in.
The belly band is Bazzil cardstock, Joann's ribbon, Martha Stewart doily inked with ColorBox-sky grey.
Topped off with Prima crochet flower and Queen & Co black pearl.
Patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye-In Bloom Collection. The black & peach cardstock is Recollections from Micheal's.

The stamped flourishes is from Whiff of Joy.
I used Stazon ink-blackjet.
The grey Cricut diecut leaves from Ashlyn's Alphabet.
The hello stamp is alphabet stamps but I don't know the brand. I have had them for years!

The Cricut tag is from Plantin Schoolbook.
The flowered embellies were cut out from the patterned paper.
I used EK Success punches on the middle band to hold the tag and the top left and right corner embellishment.

I had fun making this card and really liked the colors of this collection.

Scrapbook Page ~ My Grandmother and Me ~

This is another scrapbook page I had done a couple of years ago.
It is me and my grandmother, who passed away when I was 2 years old. So I never got to know her.
Don't I look so darn adorable??

The mat was cut out with the Cricut, and my mother had given me the lacey white ribbon from her sewing stash.
I inked the chipboard scroll with VersaMagic chalk ink in Spanish Olive - one if my favorite colors!

I am still working on the lapbook for my niece!
I found Russia stickers & papers on Ebay that will coordinate with the theme.
I really think this 'stuff '(that's what my husband calls my scrapbooking necessities) would be perfect for it!

I think I just talked myself into going Ebay shopping!!

Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Crafting!

Be Mine Card

Purple is my granddaughter's favorite color.
So I how about showcasing a card with non-traditional Valentine colors!

The hearts diecut is from the Cricut Wildcard cartridge and adhered with pop dots. After embossing on the purple paper, I  lightly sanded it.
I used the Corner Chomper- angle cut.
The silver heart brads that has been in my stash for years.

White card base ~  Recollections
Solid colored card stock ~ Bazzil
Patterned paper ~ Bo Bunny, Ambrosia Collection
Ribbon ~ American Crafts
Embossing folder ~ Darice
Stickles ~ yellow

I have entered this card into FCCB's Challenge - Queen of Hearts #147  &
V's SweetIdeas "Love Theme" Challenge VSC #8

Hope you like... and have a Happy Valentine's Day!

Bird Card

It has been snowing off and on here in Pennsylvania all day today.
So I took advantage of the cold, made a cup of warm chai tea and crafted!

  • Lattice - Cricut Wildcard
  • Flowers - Prima
  • Chipboard bird and leaves - Recollections
  • Ribbon - American Crafts

This was made with some Prima Flowers I had purchased from http://peachycheap.com for a real good price.
There was 4 different packages with paper and crochet flowers.
If you are not familiar with peachycheap, they only offer one bargain a day, for one day only, at a fantastic price.
Everyday is a brand new deal and you only have 24 hours to purchase that deal.
After 24 hours, that one is done and a new deal is offered. Great bargains to be had!!

Thanks for visiting my new blog!

Have a crafty kind of day!

Superbowl Sunday

Hi all,

Most of you, I'm sure, are watching the superbowl right now.

I am not into football, as friends and family are well aware.

They make fun of me because they say I don't know any of the Steelers names.

Just for the record, they are wrong! I know the guy who just had a baby and the one with the long hair...Rothelburger and Palimalo.
So there, I guess I told them!! :)

Anyhow, I have been preoccupied working on a lap book for my niece, who is in Russia right now and loving it!
She is a rotary exchange student.
I plan on giving it to her when she returns in June.

Do you think I gave myself enough time to finish it!!!

Hope you had a good weekend!
